Apprentice and trainee subsidy relief

The apprentice and trainee subsidy relief will be provided to small businesses employing fewer than 20 employees who retain an apprentice or trainee.

What is the relief?

If eligible, the subsidy will cover 50% of their wage and is limited to $21k per apprentice ($7k per quarter) and covering payments from 1 January 2020 to 30 September 2020.

Registration appears to open from 2 April 2020. Final claims for lodgement must be made by 31 December 2020.

How to apply

If you have an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) contact already, please contact them from 2 April 2020 to ask how to apply.

If you don’t have an AASN provider to contact, please visit the Australian Apprenticeships website here and enter your business postcode and it will list contact details of AASN’s you can contact.
