Eligible small and medium sized businesses that suffer significant loss of income or have been forced to close as a result of the restrictions will be able to access a one-off cash grant of $3,000 for employing business or $1,000 for non-employing businesses.

Businesses must meet all of the eligibility criteria as at 12:01 Tuesday 20 July 2021:

  1. Located within South Australia
  2. Registered for GST and have annual turnover of $75,000 or more in 2020-2021 or 2019-2020
  3. Active and valid ABN
  4. Employ people in SA
  5. Australia-wide payroll of less than $10 million in 2019-2020
  6. Experience at least a 30% reduction in turnover in the week beginning 20 July 2021 (inclusive) compared to the week prior as a result of restricted trading conditions

To be eligible for the $1,000 grant, non-employing businesses must meet all of the above criteria excluding the requirement to employ people.

Funding will be restricted to one grant for non-employing businesses controlled by one individual, company, partnership or trustee.

Businesses will not need to provide supporting information at the time of application, just a declaration only, but must retain relevant documentation to support their application for at least 12 months so that it could be made available for audit and compliance purposes.  Examples of such documentation include:

  • Turnover comparisons
  • Emails or texts to or from clients or suppliers showing cancelled orders or appointments
  • Receipts for refunds provided
  • Appointment/scheduling data demonstrating cancelled appointments or bookings
  • Screenshots of cancelled events

Official guidelines and an application portal will be available soon with applications closing on 30 September 2021.
